LET’S FACE IT, out of all the languages available, there’s a good argument that English is probably the weirdest of the bunch. It’s developed in a unique way. An amalgamation of a whole host of different cultures from across the globe, one that’s been influenced by war, emigration, empire building, culture absorption, religion, regional variance, and whatever words Shakespeare fancied making up to further his sonnets on the day.
It’s odd, and its grammatical structures equally so, certainly compared to the Germanic and Nordic languages that form its basis.
