Of their console rivals, only Microsoft has expressed interest in actually entering the space, and that won’t be until the end of next year when its Project Scorpio console is released. Every year both Nvidia and AMD release new graphics cards, but over the last couple of years they’ve been minor updates rather than major refreshes. This year is similar in some ways, with both companies relying upon existing designs, but there’s a been one huge change – in the way they’re made. THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS All GPUs are made from tiny building blocks called transistors – the same as every silicon chip, in fact.
