Apple has launched this year’s big software updates, with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 and more all landing on devices. The big change is the Liquid Glass interface, which brings a glass-like design to Apple’s products. That means more transparency and refraction effects, which Apple says puts more focus on your screen’s content. When Apple introduced the iPhone 17 line-up at its ‘Awe dropping’ event, the company revealed several new features that bring new video capabilities. That includes a Center Stage camera that automatically adjusts the aspect ratio, and the inclusion of features like ProRes RAW and Genlock. To make use of these tools, you’re going to need a compatible video-editing app. To that end, Apple has updated Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Camera to take advantage of the features. Using iPhone Mirroring, you Ucan also use Spotlight to launch apps that are only available on your iPhone. Apps that are only on your handset are badged with an iPhone icon. Photos is another app that got a spruce-up, but not a deep redesign. A feature that’s arrived from iOS is Pinned Collections, which makes it much easier to access your favourite picture collections from the sidebar. In the Photos app, click the sidebar’s Collections option to see your curated pictures, including your Pinned Collections. Filtering and sorting options have also improved. In all views (Years, Months, All Photos), there’s a Filter icon (three parallel lines) in the toolbar that lets you show only Favourites, Edited pics, Photos, Videos, Screenshots and pictures that are not in an album. Tahoe brings new ways to Tcustomise your Mac. Finally, a feature that’s previously only been made possible by third-party apps – and long overdue as part of macOS – is the ability to change the colour of your folders, and also badge them with an icon or emoji. There are eight colours to choose from, including the traditional blue design. Keeping different jobs in different-coloured folders is great for projects.
