Apple has long denied that it’s working on a ChatGPT-like chatbot to boost Apple Intelligence, yet a new report casts doubt on that claim. As revealed by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple is actively developing an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that could take your iPhone powers to a whole new level. By and large, the camera on your iPhone does a fine job of capturing a subject’s true colours. If there are problems with colour in a shot (such as green and magenta tints or blue and orange colour casts), then these are easily fixed using the sliders in Photos’ Colour and White Balance panels. However, Photos also enables you to perform more creative colour adjustments to catch the eye on social media feeds. B ack in 2002 Apple released what remains, to me at least, the most iconic and classiest Mac of all time – the iMac G4. It featured a flatscreen liquid-crystal display connected via an adjustable arm to a base containing the processor, hard drive and DVD drive (remember those?). You might remember the iPhone 4’s “Antennagate” fiasco, where holding the phone a certain way negatively affected its phone signal. According to leaker Majin Bu, Apple is trying to avoid that with the iPhone 17 Pro, which will apparently get a new antenna design that wraps the bands around the camera enclosure, relocating them from the device’s edge. Would you buy a MacBook with a 5G chip? You might soon be able to, as news outlet Macworld has supposedly discovered “internal Apple code” that reveals the existence of an unreleased Mac with a 5G modem inside. If legitimate – and if Apple ends up releasing the device – it would become the first Mac to include 5G mobile connectivity. According to Macworld, the modem would be Apple’s own in-house chip, rather than one made by a thirdparty. It’s now available with new orders of Aston Martin vehicles in the US and Canada as well as in existing models that use the car maker’s next-gen infotainment system. Unusually for a watchOS upgrade, Apple hasn’t introduced any significant Unew health monitoring features in watchOS 26: such features tend to arrive with new versions of the Apple Watch, so perhaps Apple has been keeping its powder dry in order not to leak the Apple Watch Series 11. As you’d expect, Phone, FaceTime and Messages – Apple’s key communication applications – get some significant new features in iOS 26. The Phone app gets Call Screening, which automatically answers unknown callers without ringing, and asks for their name and reason for calling. When this is offered, your phone rings, displaying this information on the screen. You can then decide whether to answer or not. To activate this service, go to Settings › Apps › Phone and look at the Screen Unknown Callers options. FaceTime can also screen calls. In Settings › Apps › FaceTime, you can set it to silence calls from unknown numbers and send them to voicemail, filtering missed calls and voicemails to the Unknown Callers list and moving calls identified as spam to a Spam list. Notifications are a blessing and a curse. They can be useful in reminding you of events and letting you know what’s going on, but you can receive so many they start losing their impact and quickly become annoying. Rather than turn them all off, however, it’s worth spending some time getting on top of them. You can turn off the notifications you don’t want but manage and control those you do so that they work more effectively. You can even get Apple Intelligence to help you. There are some pre-emptive measures you can take too. It’s easy to visit a website and accidentally accept notifications, for example, but it’s also easy to prevent this. The multitasking in iPadOS 26 is vastly improved, and unlike iPadOS 18’s Stage Manager it’s available to everybody whose iPad can run iPadOS 26 – and that means it’s available on some iPads that are powered by A-series processors. The first big change will appear when you update your iPad: you’ll be asked if you want to enable multitasking or if you’d rather have apps run in full-screen mode only. Instead of the previous options, which gave you full screen, Split Mode and Slide Over there’s now a binary choice: multitasking, yes or no? If your iPhone is overheating, there are some measures you can take. The first is to ensure it’s not being exposed to temperatures exceeding 45ºC (113ºF) – so take it out of a hot car or out of direct sunlight. You can also prevent your iPhone from working too hard. Open the Settings app, select General, tap Background App Refresh and limit the number of apps that update when you’re not using them. Remove a Login Item Q I thought I’d removed the ProFind app, but my Mac running macOS 15.5 keeps alerting me that the app can’t be opened and should be trashed.
