In a survey published June 5 in JAMA Network Open, one out of six primary care patients said they used cannabis, and many said the reasons for using it were primarily for medical purposes. The findings suggest that many cannabis consumers use it with medical intentions, despite characterizing their use as recreational. About 176,000 patients completed the survey, including almost 30,000 (17%) who said they were cannabis consumers. Among those who self-reported cannabis use, 35% were flagged for a moderate or high risk of cannabis use disorder. Among cannabis users, 40% had consumed cannabis once or twice during the previous three months, 17% used cannabis monthly, a quarter (25%) used cannabis every week, and nearly a fifth (19%) used cannabis on a daily or near-daily basis. Hemp production is booming in Idaho, where ironically, marijuana-derived CBD and full-spectrum CBD with any traces of THC are banned. The Idaho Farm Bureau Federation released data on May 31, showing an increase in hemp cultivation in the state for last year. During 2023, farmers planted 1,273 acres of hemp, which is a massive increase from the 459 acres cultivated in 2022. Idaho was the 50th state in the U.S. to legalize the production and cultivation of hemp after Gov. Brad Little signed House Bill 126 in April 2021. A majority of Idaho hemp is grown in south central Idaho. It’s from a cut by @clonefamofficial under lights by @fohse.inc and pumped with nutrients by @vegbloom. The high amount of resinous trichome development is mostly due to the expertise and wizardry of lead cultivator @the_maine_hippy.
