Freely will be more popular than Freeview by 2030, claims the organisation that runs both, as viewers increasingly switch to watching TV delivered over the internet.
Everyone TV, which launched Freely last year, said it’s now watched in 500,000 households – and predicts it will hit seven million by 2030.
Freeview is still watched in 18 million households, but Everyone TV predicts it will fall below seven million by 2030, making Freely more popular.
Everyone TV also forecasts that as more TV services are offered and viewers split across them, Freely’s seven million will be big enough to make it the UK’s most popular TV platform service of all.
In addition, it claims that younger audiences (aged 16-34) are the most likely to watch Freely.
