FidoCadJ is a cross-platform, vector graphics editor, with graphical libraries for circuit diagrams and PCB layouts. It will do many other graphic tasks quite well, but its built-in set of electrical symbols indicate where it will likely be of the most use. Requiring Java 7 – installation is just downloading the jar, then running with java -jar fidocadj.jar – this app has been one of the most stable Java programs we’ve tried for a while. FidoCadJ is compatible with the Windows program, FidoCAD. Drawings can be exported in PDF, EPS, SVG, PNG, JPG, and LaTeX – via PGF/TikZ. Between FidoCadJ users, drawings can be exchanged in its own compact text format, and there are examples available on the website.
