If you've tried to buy a wetsuit or surfboard lately, you might have noticed that product is selling like hotcakes and you can't always get what you're after. After two lockdowns, interest in surfing has skyrocketed, with sales in many sectors going up by a minimum of 300%, according to local surf shop owners and surf brands alike.
"Worldwide, schools were closed and people have been working from home, there were no school sports and gyms were closed. People needed to do something, and they wanted to do it outdoors, often together as a family. Cycling, running, skating or surfing were it,” explains Jeremy Hare from Wetsuit Warehouse. “Once lockdowns were lifted, whole families were coming in to buy wetsuits, fins, leashes and more."
