B. 1928 | Burt Bacharach, who wrote dozens of hits, including songs for performers like Mary Robbins, Perry Como, Gene Pitney, Dusty Springfield and, his greatest vessel of all, Dionne Warwick, died in Los Angeles on February 8 at age 94. His career spanned over 70 years, and he was arguably one of the most influential figures of 20th century popular music. He lent his talents to film scores, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in 1967 and Arthur in 1981, and theatrical works such as Promises, Promises in 1968. He won six Grammy Awards, including a 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award, three Academy Awards, two Golden Globes, and one Emmy Award.
