When the gloom of late winter pushes in on me, I take advice from one of my favorite movies, “The Sound of Music,” and concentrate on my favorite things. (I know, I know—I’m dating myself!) I don’t need to wait for the dog to bark, the bee to sting, or until I’m feeling sad to know that art, especially modern and graphic art, makes my heart sing. As much as I adore Impressionism and admire the Old Masters, there is nothing like an infusion of bold color and daring lines to pull me out of a funk and back into creative mode.
