I hope you have all had a fabulous summer and are looking forward to autumn. The new school year always brings with it a certain level of anticipation and perhaps nervousness (and that’s just the parents!), as youngsters are transitioning to new early years settings or moving schools. It’s several years since my boys were going through this, but I can still remember the apprehension and excitement at this time of year. Unfortunately, it seems many school starters are not equipped for their new environments, struggling with the basic skills required, such as the ability to sit and concentrate, taking turns or listening to instructions. This is the post-Covid intake and will pose additional challenges for teachers and carers. School readiness is something we can all help with and there…
