Despite Ubuntu dropping out-ofthe-box support, Flatpak has been assembling itself nicely recently.According to Gnome Foundation board director Rob McQueen, the ecosystem now contains over 2,000 apps, some of which he cheerfully admits he’s never heard of.
The platform was designed to allow easy download and installation of apps across all Linux platforms, and is now boxing clever with around 700,000 app downloads each day, amounting to around 88.3TB of data daily.
While the desktop app is going strong, there’s now a revamped Flathub site (https:// beta.flathub.org), which the developers plan to develop into a full app store.
