The best free alternative to Microsoft Office has released a major new version, soon after we suggested that OnlyOffice (www.snipca.com/40689) could steal its crown (see Issue 624, page 18). LibreOffice 7.3 further improves the suite’s compatibility with Office file formats such as DOCX (Word) and XLSX (Excel), which means that imported files will open more quickly and suffer fewer formatting errors. Similarly, Word and Excel will be able to open documents and spreadsheets saved in LibreOffice’s ODT and ODF formats with less hassle.
