Over 225 million leaked passwords have been added to the database at Have I Been Pwned (HIBP), increasing the number you can search to check whether yours is in criminal hands.
They were a gift from the UK’s National Crime Agency, which had collected 585 million passwords from cyber-criminals. Troy Hunt, who runs HIBP, then removed the passwords that were already part of the site’s database, leaving 225 million (225,665,425 to be exact). It brings the total number of passwords on the site to 847 million, as Hunt explains at www.snipca.com/40550.
